- Maintain and support company information systems
- Provide 1st and 2nd Line Support, escalating issues where appropriate
- Work with IT suppliers and third-party partners
- Attend IT meetings and provide status updates
- Monitor systems for performance, availability, and security
- Maintain firewall and gateway security policies
- Assist with security alerts and incident response alongside the System Security Officer
- Support the development, testing, and rollout of new systems and services
- Develop skills across Active Directory, Microsoft 365, networking, cybersecurity, and virtualised infrastructure
- Progress toward a fully-fledged Systems Administrator role
Requirements
- A background in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline
- Experience working in a Microsoft-based environment (commercial or academic)
- Exposure to IT support, system administration, or infrastructure support
- Proactive, self-motivated approach and willingness to learn
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
- Ability to adapt and keep pace with a fast-moving IT environment
- Proficiency in Active Directory
- Knowledge of virtualised infrastructure
- Knowledge of secure information systems and IT security policies
- Knowledge of networking principles, including DNS, DHCP, Layer 3 firewalls, and routing
- Ability to learn and test new technologies and integrate them with existing systems
- Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 platform, including Azure
- Knowledge of MDM and ticket management
- Must be eligible and willing to obtain UK Government Security Clearance
- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Adaptability to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
