- Assist MST-CAN Therapists in gathering information about client resources and anticipating the needs of clients and families
- Engage primary caregivers and key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement
- Provide assigned therapists with updates on critical and emerging family problems throughout treatment
- Maintain clear, concise documentation demonstrating compliance with the nine MST Principles and MST Analytic Process
- Perform safety checks with the MST-CAN Supervisor or Therapist, respond to emergencies, and implement crisis plans
- Support collection of urine drug screens and/or breathalysers for parents or youth abusing substances
- Participate in MST-CAN training, supervision, consultation, and development activities
- Build relationships with community stakeholders including child protection services, legal advisers, judges, and schools
- Assist clients with practical needs such as housing, budgeting, job attainment, and prosocial recreational activities
- Assist the clinical team and parents with children’s school attendance and performance
- Develop and update a team resource file of community activities and services
- Assist in CAN-TAM-R collection by connecting families with the interviewer
- Support MST-CAN Therapists in activities involving families
- Support families with homework for Prolonged Exposure, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, relaxation exercises, feelings identification, and other interventions
Requirements
- Educated to HNC level or equivalent experience in a related subject area
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to clients’ homes and possibly transport multiple clients at once
- Must live within a 60-minute travel time from the designated service area
- Experience working with families in community-based, in-home settings
- Experience working with child protection and court systems
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate on clinical work as a team member
- Experience supporting the management of family safety risks or crises, including threats of harm to self and others
- Experience providing behavioural change interventions to children in home or school settings and adults
- Professional experience engaging with family natural ecology members and implementing team-developed interventions
- Required Level 2 disclosure with PVG before appointment
