- Lead technical discovery, solution design, and architecture for client projects
- Build, test, deploy, and maintain robust Shopify apps, themes, and integrations
- Architect custom Shopify apps and Checkout Extensions
- Design scalable theme builds and integrate APIs
- Advise on technical risk during discovery sessions
- Define and uphold technical governance across multiple projects
- Mentor and support developers, conduct reviews, and foster professional growth
- Collaborate with project managers and client stakeholders to scope complex technical requirements
- Contribute to product and process improvement across the agency
- Help shape development standards and support the Director of Technology in defining the technical roadmap
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a full stack developer (3+ years in commercial environments)
- Proven track record delivering responsive Shopify/Shopify Plus websites (2+ years minimum)
- Strong knowledge of Shopify Store 2.0, Liquid, and Shopify APIs
- Skilled in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6+), and TypeScript
- Experience with React (Remix / Next.js)
- Experience with backend languages/frameworks, preferably Node.js or Ruby
- Strong understanding of RESTful/GraphQL APIs and cloud-based/serverless architectures
- Proficient in Git and version control workflows within multi-developer teams
- Solid experience with databases, migrations, and relational data structures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in client-facing roles
