Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance in line with HR practices and procedures.
  • Manage employee relations cases such as performance and absence management, disciplinary and grievance procedures, and conduct investigations when necessary.
  • Coach managers on best practice, interpret UK employment law, and manage casework from start to finish.
  • Deliver HR introduction training to new managers.
  • Support occupational health referrals and maintain strong relationships with union and site representatives.
  • Collaborate with the wider HR team on company and HR objectives.
  • Provide support on change management, complex employee relations, and policy overhauls.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing a varied and demanding employee relations caseload within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application.
  • Experience providing expert advice and guidance to managers on policy interpretation and case management from start to finish.
  • Experience supporting managers through organisational change initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coach, influence, and appropriately challenge stakeholders.
  • Accountability for your own workload, with the ability to manage priorities independently and to escalate complex or high‑risk matters when needed.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with the initiative to identify process improvements and resolve issues effectively.
  • Experience delivering HR training sessions or workshops.
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience maintaining accurate case logs, tracking absence data, and prioritising project work.
  • Commitment to your own professional development, actively seeking opportunities to build capability and knowledge.
  • Experience working within a unionised environment is highly advantageous.
  • A CIPD Level 5 qualification is preferred, or equivalent experience.
