- Work as part of the Adult Basic Education (ABE) team
- Support adult learners developing literacy, numeracy and ICT skills in a group context
- Engage adult learners, young people and families in adult learning
- Plan, deliver and assess learners’ needs and abilities using a range of strategies
- Overcome barriers and agree appropriate learning plans with learners
- Manage learning according to individual needs and aspirations
- Identify causal factors affecting acquisition of literacy capabilities
- Address learning difficulties with learners through a social practice model of learning
- Work collaboratively with staff teams, volunteers, communities, partners and colleagues
Requirements
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent (SCQF level 8)
- Experience delivering adult literacies programmes with adult learners, young people and families using a social practice approach
- Awareness and knowledge of supporting learners with a range of additional support needs
- Good time management, organisational skills and communication skills
- Experience working effectively with minimum supervision
- Flexible and adaptable approach
- Experience establishing and maintaining good working relationships with young people, families, adult learners, partners and colleagues
- IT skills and experience of online delivery
- Experience delivering and assessing accredited learning up to SCQF Level 4 and/or willingness to work towards an assessor/internal verifier qualification
- Ability to travel between venues to deliver learning in local communities
- Availability for some evening work
- Commitment to the ethos of adult literacies and the aims of the Plan 4 Fife and CLD Plan
- Required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before appointment
