- Manage a diverse caseload of high-value costs matters, including PI Multi Track, Serious Injury, Asbestos, Clinical Negligence and other high-cost cases
- Prepare Costs Budgets (Precedent H), Statements of Costs for Summary Assessment (N260s), Estimates and Formal Bills of Costs
- Negotiate costs budgets and bills of costs and settle claims on the best possible terms
- Attend Costs CMCs, Detailed Assessment hearings and application hearings
- Work closely with PI Lawyers as part of the legal team and advise on live claims
- Liaise and work alongside Junior and Leading Counsel on complex and technical costs matters
- Manage own caseload in line with Costs Department protocols and service standards
- Provide day-to-day coaching and technical guidance to colleagues as a "Supervision Buddy"
- Make a significant impact within Thompsons Solicitors LLP’s national Costs Department
Requirements
- Experienced Law Costs professional
- Qualified Costs Lawyers preferred; applications also welcomed from Chartered Legal Executives and Solicitors
- Significant experience in a wide range of high-value Multi Track personal injury matters ideally
- Good understanding of the CPR
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Persuasive advocacy and confident negotiation skills
- Professional telephone manner
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong file management and organisational skills
- Comfortable using standard IT packages such as Outlook and Word
- Experience of Costs Master beneficial
