Responsibilities
Lead on environmental and social sustainability issues within SEUK through expert knowledge on specialist issues, e. g., Extended producer responsibility, eco-design of products, hazardous chemicals management, energy efficiency, energy and carbon reporting, and human rights and labour issues.
Arrange reporting, payments and calculations relating to WEEE, Batteries, Packaging, GHG, F-Gas, Energy / Carbon, Energy Saving, and others.
Advise on the contents of / drafting SEUK's TCFD reporting in Financial Statements and ensure CSRD compliance where required.
Develop, maintain and enforce local SEUK policies on Sustainability and Human Rights.
Draft SEUK's Annual Modern Slavery Statement.
Provide support on global sustainability issues and manage environmental and social sustainability compliance and reporting requirements on product and operational related issues.
Actively support SEUK as the key liaison for all external environmental and social sustainability queries from NGOs, Trade Bodies, governments, etc.
Represent the company to UK and Irish Government and relevant external bodies, such as tech UK, AMDEA, NGOs and lobby groups, enforcement authorities, major customers, distributors, and partner companies.
Support Public Affairs / Government Affairs teams to shape UK and Irish Government policy environment to one that opens markets and benefits key Samsung environmentally-friendly products/solutions.
Monitor regional & national policy developments, assessing the impacts to the company, recommending response/preparation strategies, and coordinate implementation of SEUK corporate policy and compliance strategy.
Requirements
- Excellent and demonstrable understanding of the UK and/or European policy and regulatory landscape relating to Sustainability, in particular relating to Extended Producer Responsibilities.
- Professional experience of product compliance / government affairs / policy work, preferably with product types in Samsung's portfolio.
- Degree level education in a relevant subject.
- A desirable skill would be knowledge of eco-design / material efficiency topics such as product reparability, recyclability and adaptability.
- Communication - ability to communicate clearly on sophisticated topics to different partners including across different cultures
- Leadership - ability to be the lead expert on key topics
- Analytical - great attention to detail
- Self-motivated and proactive - can work well alone but also cooperates with others, passionate, committed
- Excellent written and spoken English
- MS Office skills, in particular Excel
