  • Gain skills and experience across software engineering, including software design, integration, and testing
  • Work as part of a team during part or multiple parts of the Development Life Cycle
  • Develop programming skills in Java, C, C++, C#, Python, Raspberry Pi, and/or Arduino
  • Analyze requirements, design applications, define test specifications, and support configuration management, database development, and system monitoring
  • Engage with internal and external customers and third-party vendors
  • Develop responsive user interfaces for aerospace applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers and back-end developers
  • Participate in agile practices, code reviews, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
  • Improve code quality, maintainability, delivery, and cost using engineering practices and AI tools
  • Maintain, support, and improve engineering toolchains used across NPI projects
  • Perform issue triage, root cause analysis, resolution, and tool enhancement testing
  • Document configurations, changes, known issues, test evidence, technical findings, and status updates
  • Track and deliver software releases on time and identify project improvements
  • Support digital transformation, automation, simplification, and business process optimisation
  • Prepare reports and dashboards, manage digital reporting tools and web apps, and support implementation of new digital tools
  • Track digital transformation projects and contribute to future data analytics strategy
  • Receive coaching, mentoring, structured goals, and responsibility for placement projects

Requirements

  • Currently studying a Computer Science, Web Development, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Embedded Software, or related Bachelor’s or integrated Master’s Degree
  • Passionate about Software Engineering
  • Programming experience in at least one of C#, Java, or Python, with willingness to work across more than one language
  • On course to achieve a 2:1 degree or above
  • To be in your penultimate year of study and returning to education post placement
  • Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained
  • Permanent right to work in the UK is required; sponsorship is not available for Early Careers opportunities
  • Able to roll up your sleeves and get involved in projects
  • Organised and able to work towards deadlines
