  • Deliver engaging lectures face-to-face and online for blended and distance-learning students
  • Deliver 16 hours of teaching across 4 groups
  • Provide academic support through office hours and tutorials
  • Facilitate the campus cover rota
  • Take on module leadership and ensure quality and development of learning materials and schemes of work
  • Oversee assessment marking, create authentic assessments, and provide high-quality feedback
  • Lead or support creation of new programmes and refresh existing programmes in line with industry trends and employer requirements
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide academic advice and student support
  • Drive innovation in teaching methods, student support, and assessment
  • Assist with online and face-to-face student orientation weeks
  • Support assessments through one-to-ones, group tutorials, and scaffolded feedback sessions
  • Track students at risk of non-submission through phone calls, online one-to-ones, and face-to-face assessment tutorials
  • Develop assessment and resit clinics
  • Create interactive videos, podcasts, and activities for the VLE and classroom
  • Act as a Personal Academic Coach supporting student engagement, progression, and academic success

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in a subject relevant to the teaching area
  • Recognised HE Teaching Qualification and/or Advance HE Fellowship at FHEA/SFHEA level, or commitment to gain this recognition within 12 months of appointment
  • Experience teaching Foundation Year and/or academic skills
  • Understanding of challenges to student engagement in a university setting
  • Experience in academic skills, assessment support, health and care management, or hospitality/tourism
  • Evidence of CPD demonstrating commitment to enhancing knowledge and teaching capability
  • Positive and empathetic approach to dealing with student issues
  • Interest in AI in education or enterprise/innovation advantageous
  • Ability to work on campus 3–4 days per week and potentially 5 days depending on teaching and meeting requirements
  • Candidates without current UK right to work may apply if eligible for an alternative visa route
