Obsworth Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Refuse Collectors/Loaders to join our client based in Okehampton EX20. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the community by collecting waste and ensuring proper disposal. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards.

Location: Okehampton EX20

Hours: Monday to Friday 6.45am, 10-12 hour shifts

Pay: £12.71 per hour

ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND INDUCTION ON FRIDAY AT 12PM AT THE HAYEDOWN PL20 SITE

Responsibilities:

  • Collect refuse from residential and commercial properties on designated routes.
  • Operate refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure that all waste is properly loaded and secured for transportation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of collection vehicles, performing routine checks and reporting any maintenance issues.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while on duty.
  • Assist in the sorting of recyclable materials when necessary.
  • Engage with the public in a courteous manner, addressing any questions or concerns regarding waste collection services.
  • Report any incidents or hazards encountered during collection routes to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A valid driving licence is preferred; experience operating large vehicles is advantageous.
  • Ability to work early mornings and in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting heavy bins and walking long distances.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with the public and team members.
  • Previous experience in waste management or a similar role is beneficial but not essential; training will be provided.
