An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tax Accountant to join a growing and well-established accountancy practice based in Worcestershire.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with at least one year of experience working within an accountancy practice, who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and progressive firm.

The successful candidate will have experience preparing personal and/or corporate tax returns and will be given the opportunity to continue developing their technical knowledge and career as the practice continues to grow year on year.

No formal qualification is required for this role.

The firm is happy to consider candidates at different stages of their career and will provide study support to more junior candidates who are looking to progress with professional qualifications.

The Tax Accountant Role

Key responsibilities will include

  • Preparing personal tax returns for a range of clients for around 330 clients
  • Preparing corporate tax returns and supporting tax computations
  • Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts where required
  • Liaising with clients to obtain relevant information and documentation
  • Providing support and guidance to clients on routine tax matters
  • Ensuring tax returns and associated work are completed accurately and within relevant deadlines
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records
  • Keeping up to date with relevant tax legislation and developments
  • Working closely with colleagues across the practice
  • Supporting the wider team during busy periods and contributing to the continued growth of the firm
  • Contacting HMRC to change tax codes, chase refunds, other ad hoc queries, etc.
  • Helping prepare P11Ds.
  • Attending client meetings or phone calls with clients to go through their tax return and help with any queries they have.
  • Preparing and submitting Capital Gains Tax returns.
  • Registering Trusts on the Trust Registration Service.
  • The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have

  • A minimum of one year's experience preparing personal and/or corporate tax returns within an accountancy practice
  • Good knowledge of UK tax principles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team
  • A proactive approach and a genuine desire to develop within tax and accountancy

Formal qualifications are not essential for this role.

Candidates who are part-qualified, studying towards a qualification, or looking to begin a professional qualification will all be considered.

Study support is available for more junior candidates.
