About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and safety-conscious
Band Saw Operative to join our production team.
This is a hands-on role within a busy processing environment where you'll be responsible for cutting metal to customer specifications, operating overhead gantry cranes, and ensuring products are processed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Working closely with the Foreman and production team, you'll play an important role in maintaining high standards of quality, housekeeping, and health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut steel accurately using fully and semi-automated band saws and cold saws.
- Read and work from cutting notes to ensure materials are processed to specification.
- Store processed materials safely within designated warehouse locations.
- Carry out stock checks and complete production paperwork accurately.
- Conduct pre-use equipment inspections and report any defects promptly.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Wear and maintain the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Complete quality checks using measuring equipment to ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Work effectively as part of a team to achieve production targets.
- Attend training and undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required.
What We're Looking For
- Experience within a manufacturing, steel processing, engineering, or warehouse environment.
- Experience operating overhead gantry cranes is desirable.
- Ability to read measurements and work accurately to specifications.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
