An established and growing logistics business based in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join its operations team. This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who can work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain excellent service levels across daily transport operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating UK transport operations
- Managing driver routes, schedules, and vehicle utilisation
- Monitoring deliveries and resolving operational issues proactively
- Communicating with drivers, customers, and warehouse teams
- Ensuring compliance with transport legislation and company procedures
- Supporting same-day, groupage, and time-critical deliveries
- Maintaining accurate operational records and transport documentation
- Assisting with weekend operational cover on a rota basis
Requirements
- Previous experience in a transport planning or logistics coordination role
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK
- Ability to work effectively in a busy and reactive environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Confident using transport management systems and Microsoft Office
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Knowledge of ADR, temperature-controlled, or European logistics would be advantageous but not essential
