An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a rapidly expanding renewable energy and building services specialist delivering high-end residential and commercial projects across the South East. This is a senior technical position offering the opportunity to take ownership of the design function, lead a small team of engineers, and play a key role in delivering innovative renewable energy solutions. You'll work on prestigious projects involving Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV, MVHR and complete mechanical and electrical systems, helping shape projects from concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and support a team of Design Engineers
  • Take ownership of projects following technical handover from the sales team
  • Produce detailed technical designs for renewable energy and mechanical building services systems
  • Design Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), Solar PV, MVHR and complete M&E solutions
  • Complete heat loss and heat gain calculations, room-by-room analysis and system sizing
  • Produce detailed schematics, layouts and technical specifications
  • Act as the technical lead for installation teams, providing guidance and resolving design queries
  • Manage design workloads to ensure project deadlines and service levels are achieved
  • Work closely with architects, consultants, contractors and clients throughout the design process
  • Implement and maintain BIM processes while ensuring compliance with RIBA design stages

Requirements

We're looking for a technically strong Design Engineer with excellent leadership skills and experience delivering high-quality renewable energy or building services projects. You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience designing renewable energy systems, particularly Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
  • Strong background within Building Services or Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) design
  • Experience managing projects from concept through to detailed design
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers, or the ambition to move into a leadership role
  • Excellent understanding of BIM processes and RIBA design stages
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and renewable energy standards

Technical Skills

Experience using one or more of the following:

  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • IES
  • EasyPV
  • Heat loss calculation software
  • Mechanical building services design packages
