Part-Time Management Accountant

We\’re a proudly Western Australian-owned specialist in Service Truck Sales and Rental. We sell and rent high-specification units to the country\’s biggest mining operations, plus major civil and construction projects across Australia. Mining is the heart of our business – fast-paced, high-value contracts, heavy asset utilisation and tight cost control are everyday realities., You\’ll report directly to the Managing Director and work closely with our operations & sales team. This is a genuine operational accounting position – not just bookkeeping. Expect 70-80% commercial/financial insight work and 20-30% transactional/coordination tasks/compliance.,

• Prepare clear, timely monthly management accounts, variance analysis and KPI dashboards focused on hire utilisation, maintenance costs, margin by client/fleet type, cashflow forecasting with detailed commentary.
• Support pricing for rental and sale quotes
• Analyse fleet performance – capex vs opex trade-offs, residual values, depreciation impact
• Budgeting, rolling forecasts and ad-hoc scenario modelling for growth opportunities or cost pressures
• Liaise with external accountants for statutory compliance and year-end packs
• Be the commercial sounding board for the MD on new opportunities, supplier negotiations or client issues
• CA/CPA qualified (or very close) with solid post-qualification experience
• Proven management accounting background – ideally gained in mining, contracting, heavy equipment rental/fleet, civil construction, resources services or similar industry
• Strong commercial mindset – you think like an owner and can translate numbers into actionable business advice
• Confident with Excel (advanced modelling / Power Query a big plus), familiar with Google Sheets and Xero
• Excellent communicator – you produce concise reports that non-finance people actually read and act on
• Comfortable working autonomously in a small team environment
• Part-time flexibility – 20-30 hours per week, days/hours largely up to you (core overlap preferred for quick syncs)
• Hybrid/remote-capable – Perth office available, but some limited flexible WFH set-up supported.
