Job Scope
- Receive and assess laboratory specimens, rejecting those that do not meet suitability criteria for analysis.
- Prepare reagents and materials requiring special handling to ensure test reliability and accuracy.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information System for functions including result queries, order entry, and result documentation.
- Conduct moderate complexity tests in compliance with established laboratory protocols.
- Immediately notify relevant laboratory personnel of any critical test values.
- Escalate any adverse incidents to senior staff members for appropriate action.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and report malfunctions to designated personnel.
- Stay up to date with evolving techniques, procedures, and equipment by attending workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
- Demonstrate laboratory procedures to trainees and new staff.
- Guide Laboratory Technicians, Clerical Staff and Health Attendants in their work when required.
- Ad hoc duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- A recognized Diploma or Degree in Biomedical / Biological / Life Sciences or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in clinical lab setting will be an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
