Jobstore are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wood Machinist/Joiner to join our clients team on a temp to perm basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing high-quality wooden components for a variety of furnishing projects. This role requires proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and joinery techniques, along with a solid understanding of carpentry and construction practices. The ideal applicant will have experience working with different materials and be capable of heavy lifting and precise craftsmanship to meet project specifications. Responsibilities

  • Operate woodworking machinery such as saws, planers, and sanders to produce precise components according to specifications.
  • Fabricate custom wood pieces for furniture, fixtures, or structural elements.
  • Assemble wooden parts using hand tools, power tools, and joinery techniques to ensure durability and quality.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood materials accurately for various projects.
  • Perform finishing tasks including sanding, staining, and sealing to achieve desired surface quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to interpret technical drawings and project requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the installation of finished products on-site when required.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance.

Experience

  • Proven experience in fabrication, assembly, and carpentry within a construction or woodworking environment.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools such as chisels, saws, hammers, and screwdrivers.
  • Proficient with power tools including drills, routers, and saws.
  • Knowledge of joinery techniques such as dovetailing, mortise-and-tenon, and biscuit joining.
  • Experience working with roofing materials or masonry is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during material handling.
  • Familiarity with construction painting, plumbing, electrical work, or masonry is considered a plus but not mandatory.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in measuring and cutting tasks.
