Jobstore are looking for a CNC Operator for one of our lead clients in Chorley on a temporary to permanent basis working Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 16.30pm, with an early finish on Fridays. The role will consist of daily operations of the pre-production process. Working alongside the production manager, operations and the design team, the role serves as a liaison between product teams.
The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills along with knowledge and foresight to identify any current or potential design crisis as early as possible, so priorities can be rearranged to mitigate any impact on production timing. It is the role of the CNC Operator to operate a CNC machine(s) to cut wood materials in-line with customer and product specifications, ensuring the process is completed in a timely manner, ready for the following stage of manufacture and/or packing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Programming
- Attention to detail for material requirements in the Bill of Materials, calculate board quantities and update as needed.
- Using SolidWorks to break out models to individual components and creating individual DXF files from the broken-out panels.
- Working as part of the R&D team when required to assist production with the construction of products.
- Converting those DXF into MPR files to be proceeding (nested) via WoodWop or Vectric.
- Use WoodWop to optimise nested items for all machinery and is responsible for ensuring minimum waste by full utilisation.
- Checking of all drawings/models on SolidWorks for errors before they are sent to production.
- Send nest and programs down to the Vantage, Venture, Technos 2132 MD CNC.
- Provide all CAM production ready information using computer software and machinery to facilitate our automated manufacturing process.
- Assist R&D team and the assembly team with prototypes, existing products and non-standard products.
- Demonstrate a flexible approach to adjust working patterns to meet demanding customer or business deadlines.
- Cut material to customer and product/design/order specification.
- Carry out quality control checks upon your own work and the step previous.
- Work as part of a team or individually as required.
- Read, understand and follow assembly instructions issued by the Supervisor.
- You may be required to work in alternative areas of the factory as demand fluctuates.
- Complete time receipts within the SAP System.
- Report any damages or scrap within the SAP System.
- Carry out Stock Control checks as and when required.
- Keep a clean, tidy and organised work environment at all times.
- Keep tools and equipment in good working order.
- Good general PC skills with competencies using Excel.
- Use SolidWorks to create drawings.
- Support the development of existing product ranges.
- Assisting sales and production with technical information about products and their construction.
Must follow ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSC, Health & Safety, Safe Working Procedures, Risk Assessments, SAP Business One and all company standard operating procedures.
