Jobstore are looking for an experienced Janitor to join one of our longstanding clients based in North Manchester. You will be working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday 08.00am-16.00pm. All applicants must hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate.
To undertake duties concerned with the maintenance and care of the premises both internally and externally, so as to ensure a safe and satisfactory working environment.
Main Duties will Include:
- Grounds and car park areas as appropriate.
- Carpet shampooing.
- Wall cleaning.
- Stripping and sealing floor surfaces, using spray burnishing and other automatic equipment.
- Blinds and light fittings.
- Replenishing roller towels, soap, toilet rolls and other toiletries.
- Kitchen extraction units.
- High level cleaning.
- In wintertime undertake gritting of car parks and paths.
- Setting up and breaking down of rooms for seminars etc.
All applicants must have/be:
- Previous janitorial/caretaking/handyman/portering experience, working within a medium to large scale organisation.
- Experience of carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs replacing light bulbs, fixing curtain rails, mounting shelves, painting etc.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning equipment, materials and methods high level cleaning, carpet cleaning etc.
- Have a good understanding of the English language both verbal communication and written text.
- Be fit to carry out the role of a janitor including lifting, loading, unloading, carrying equipment & furniture, bending, pushing and handling equipment.
- The role will include leaf clearance and spreading grit to car parks, paths and walkways in the winter months plus setting up rooms for meetings and training.
- Be capable of basic recording/checking functions weekly fire alarm tests and lift checks, ladder safety checks and asbestos monitoring training will be provided.
- An understanding of health and safety particularly around manual handling, working at height, COSHH and the safe use of equipment.
- A good attendance and performance record.
- A full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work with insurance for business purposes multiple sites covered.
