Design Engineer – Mould Tool Design – Whitstable, Kent | On-Site | Competitive Salary | Mon–Thu 08:00–16:30, Fri 08:00–13:30
Take ownership of mould tooling design and production improvements, resolving manufacturing issues and optimising processes for consistent quality. Apply your expertise in CAD and injection moulding to influence new and existing components. This role sits within a well-established engineering group known for providing high-technology interconnect, sensor and antenna solutions across various sectors, such as defence, aerospace and automotive.
You will advise the team on NPI projects supporting DFM/DFMEA for moulded part/tooling design and provide support with any issues when required.
Your role
- Investigate production issues and implement tooling updates to maintain high-quality outputs
- Support new product introduction through design for manufacture and risk assessment
- Develop, verify, and maintain 3D models, technical drawings, and specifications for components and mould tools
- Collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional teams to improve processes and material selection
Your Experience
- Minimum BEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous mould tooling experience in a manufacturing environment is essential
- Experience with 3D CAD (CREO or similar) and simulation tools such as Moldex 3
- Knowledge of injection moulding processes and design for volume production
- Understanding of GD&T and creating detailed manufacturing drawings
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DFM/A and NPI processes
- Right to work in the UK, no sponsorship provided
