An exciting opportunity has arisen for a sophisticated analyst at a leading UK renewable energy firm. The company has a portfolio of over 250MW of solar projects, with a target to significantly increase deployment into renewable energy capacity in the next 5 years.
Role Description
- Financial Modelling & Valuation
- Build, manage and enhance complex financial models for renewable energy projects, portfolios and company acquisitions.
- Conduct scenario analysis, stress testing, and portfolio-level financial performance modelling.
- Help prepare valuation reports, return projections, and investment analytics for senior management and committees.
- Investment Analysis
- Support finance team by analysing capital structures, funding requirements, and project cash flows.
- Perform detailed debt sizing, sculpting, refinancing and covenant analysis.
- Perform quantitative due diligence, including sensitivity, break-even, and risk modelling.
- Support investment decision-making with data-driven insights.
- Deal Support & Reporting
- Assist in preparing investment memoranda with a focus on the quantitative and financial sections.
- Collaborate with internal teams on portfolio tracking and reporting.
- Sector Exposure & Market Research
- Conduct market research and benchmarking to inform modelling assumptions.
- Track trends in infrastructure sectors, regulatory changes, and financing structures that impact investment metrics.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a quantitatively strong discipline.
- Advanced Excel modelling skills, including VBA.
- Strong grasp of cash flow modelling and leverage structures.
- Attention to detail and ability to validate and stress-test complex models.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Professional experience in renewable energy investment, infrastructure investment, private equity or structured finance.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Bloomberg, or other financial/data visualization tools.
- Professional finance qualifications (e.g., CFA, ACA, ACCA) a plus.
