I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Food Technical Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing business operating within a high-risk environment. This is a key leadership role, responsible for food safety, quality, compliance, and customer standards across the site.
The Role
As Food Technical Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the site’s technical and food safety function, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, customer, and certification requirements. You’ll act as the main technical contact for customers and external bodies, while leading audits and driving continuous improvement across food safety and quality systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all food safety, quality, and technical systems on site
- Ensure ongoing compliance with the BRCGS Food Safety Standard and UK food legislation
- Act as the primary technical contact for major UK retail customers
- Lead and manage customer, third-party, and regulatory audits
- Oversee and maintain HACCP plans and food safety risk assessments
- Manage customer specifications, standards, and technical requirements
- Drive continuous improvement across food safety and quality performance
- Lead, develop, and support the technical team
About You
- Proven experience as a Technical Manager within poultry, meat, or high-risk food manufacturing
- Strong customer-facing experience with major UK retailers
- In-depth knowledge of the BRCGS Food Safety Standard
- HACCP Level 3 qualification or above
- Experience managing audits and complex customer standards
- Strong understanding of UK food law and regulatory frameworks
- Confident, credible communicator able to influence at senior leadership level
