Crest Nicholson has been building new homes for over 60 years and is firmly established as a leading developer with a passion for creating vibrant sustainable communities. A new opportunity for a Technical Manager role has arisen in Crest Nicholson's South West Division based out of the Stoke Gifford Office, likely covering developments in the Oxfordshire area. As Technical Manager, you will be responsible for making a profit by acquiring land and planning, designing, constructing, and selling dwellings thereon, all in accordance with the operating policies and controls of the Company plc.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist and co‑operate with the Land Department in the investigation and acquisition of development sites.
- Ensure detailed technical investigation, design and optimisation is secured and maintain liaison with statutory authorities; produce all necessary documentation and drawings to enable contracts to be let and a site to be developed by the Building Department.
- Prepare detailed constructional drawings, negotiate and secure technical and statutory approvals to achieve optimum timing programmes.
- Identify and resolve technical design and constructional problems.
- Assist in the supervision and administration of the Company Technical function.
- Maintain satisfactory working relationships with Local Authority, NHBC and service utility officers.
- Assist as required in general public relations and promotion of the company's name with external bodies.
- Assist in general Company technical design matters, including involvement in the production of standard Company drawings as directed by the Technical Executive.
- Represent the Company as required by attending meetings where technical issues are to be discussed.
Essential Qualifications/Attributes
- Strong technical knowledge base from a technical design background of either architecture or civil engineering.
- Educated to HNC / HND in a construction‑related qualification.
- Knowledge of the housebuilding industry, preferably gained with a high‑volume house builder.
- Exposure to mix‑use/commercial schemes.
- Experience in concrete, steel and traditional masonry build.
