Residential Support Worker – EBD Home for children

Reports To: Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, Senior Support Worker

Residential Support Worker – Up to £13.50/hour

SLEEP INS PAID AT £50/SLEEP

Being a Children\’s Home registered for EBD, our client is interested in candidates with Children\’s Home experience /background and not adults. Level 3 or working towards is essential.

Role Overview:

Our client is seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to provide high-quality care and support to young people. This role involves safeguarding their well-being, addressing their physical, emotional, and practical needs, and helping them reach their full potential. You will serve as a positive role model and work closely with young individuals to support their development and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily care routines and practical needs.
  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with young people.
  • Support their physical, emotional, behavioral, cultural, and educational development.
  • Model positive behavior and problem-solving strategies.
  • Encourage self-regulation and reinforce positive conduct.
  • Follow and adapt individual care plans to meet changing needs.
  • Take responsibility for a small group of young people.
  • Develop meaningful, supportive relationships.
  • Offer one-on-one guidance to help address personal challenges.
  • Provide emotional support during difficult times.
  • Encourage ambition and support goal achievement.
  • Assist with education and extracurricular involvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to planning and review meetings.
  • Empower young people to participate in decisions about their lives.
  • Advocate for young people in relevant meetings.
  • Promote community engagement and social development.
  • Understand and contribute to the home’s objectives.
  • Participate actively in team meetings.
  • Support team development and communication.
  • Share and receive constructive feedback.
  • Maintain consistency in care plans across the team.
  • Offer informal support to colleagues.
  • Attend regular supervision in line with quality standards.
  • Attend and contribute to young people’s meetings.
  • Drive company vehicles as required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and maintain a current training profile.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Secondary education, Level 3 qualification, Full, clean driving license
  • Desirable: Childcare qualification, Sports/activity certification

Knowledge & Skills

  • Essential: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, Understanding of young people’s needs, Awareness of safeguarding practices, Ability to work independently and as part of a team, Basic household management skills, Emotional resilience, Commitment to equality and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Desirable: Knowledge of challenging behavior and intervention strategies, Familiarity with CHR & QS, Understanding of childcare legislation, Outdoor activity skills
