Drive commissioning excellence and keep critical water infrastructure running safely, compliantly, and efficiently.
Contract: Inside IR35 – ASAP until 31/12/2026.
Location: South London – Hybrid working.
The ICA Engineer is required to assist with close out the immediate observations and faults identified through the commissioning process, as well as provide longer-term technical support.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Reviewing and commenting on contractor’s electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) designs and inspection and test plan deliverables.
- Ensuring that deliverables comply with applicable policies, standards and procedures within scope and quality expectations.
- Undertaking NEC supervisor duties for EICA factory inspections, factory acceptance testing, site installation and site acceptance testing activities.
- Liaising and coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, including participating in meetings and workshops.
- Providing general technical support to the MEICA Discipline Lead, including supporting best practice, solving challenges, and contributing to quality improvements.
- Mitigating engineering risks with a thorough understanding of responsibilities under the CDM regulations (2007).
- Complying with Health, Safety, Security and Environment policies and standards to maintain a safe and secure workplace.
Qualifications
- A recognised qualification or formal training in electrical/electronic/communication engineering. A relevant degree is desirable but not essential; other qualifications such as HNC or NVQs with relevant experience will be considered.
Required Experience
- Design, factory testing, site installation and commissioning experience for contemporary communication, control systems and instrumentation including networking technologies (fieldbus, Profibus, etc.), fibre optic and data transmission (GPRS).
- Rockwell SCADA and PLC experience; experience in the UK water industry (preferably TWUL with ICA standards); knowledge of LV electrical systems and BS7671; knowledge of WIMES.
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary design office.
