We are working in partnership with an NHS Trust in Salisbury to recruit an experienced Consultant Rheumatologist to support outpatient rheumatology services. The role is primarily focused on outpatient clinics, referral triage, pre-investigation, and advice & guidance, helping to improve patient flow and access to specialist care. The post includes a mix of face-to-face and telephone consultations. The majority of the role will require on-site presence; however, some remote working may be considered for suitably experienced candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consultant-led outpatient clinics for patients with rheumatological conditions.
- Provide timely referral triage, pre-investigation, and specialist clinical advice.
- Offer Advice & Guidance to primary care and referring teams, supporting safe and appropriate pathways.
- Conduct telephone and virtual consultations alongside face-to-face appointments.
- Apply evidence-based practice and sound clinical judgement to support high-quality care.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to improve service efficiency and patient outcomes.

Essential
- GMC-registered Consultant Rheumatologist
- Proven experience delivering outpatient rheumatology services at consultant level
- Strong clinical judgement and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills, including remote and telephone consultations
Desirable
- Experience supporting Advice & Guidance or referral management pathways
- Flexibility to support a hybrid working model
