Location: Reading (Hybrid – typically 3 days onsite)

Salary: £90,000

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

I\’m currently working with a well-established technology business that develops secure, mission-critical IoT and embedded systems used in safety-focused environments. On their behalf, I\’m looking to hire an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer with strong Linux experience to play a key role in the design and development of robust, future-ready embedded software platforms.

This is a senior, hands-on technical role where your expertise will directly influence product architecture, security, and reliability, working as part of a collaborative and highly skilled engineering team.

The Role
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will:

Design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software for router and IoT devices

Write high-quality, testable code, and contribute to automated tests and code reviews

Debug and validate embedded systems, ensuring robust performanceCollaborate closely with hardware and cross-functional teams

Influence technical direction and stay current with emerging IoT/embedded trends

About You
You are a skilled embedded developer who:

Has strong experience in C and embedded Linux development

Understands Linux networking, IP-based networking (routing, VLANs, VPNs), and multiple interfaces (Ethernet, cellular, Wi‐Fi)

Is confident with git and modern collaborative workflows

Has experience with C++ or Python and provisioning large fleets of devices (desirable)
