We are seeking a high-performing FME Analyst to support the Local Digitisation Programme, delivering high-volume, high-accuracy spatial data automation. This role is critical to enabling scale, consistency, and quality across multiple Local Authorities, supporting both production delivery and automation uplift. The ideal candidate will have sharp, production-grade FME skills, a strong understanding of spatial data quality, and experience working under strict governance and QA controls.
Key Responsibilities
- FME Automation for Project Delivery
- Design, develop, and maintain production-ready FME Workbenches to support:
- Spatial charge digitisation and transformation
- Attribute mapping and schema alignment to data standards
- Batch processing of large LA datasets
- Multiple Local Authorities
- Varying data structures and data quality
- Polygons, lines, points spatial data
- Boundaries aligned to Ordnance Survey base mapping
- Spatial joins, overlays, snapping, buffering, topology validation
- Shapefiles, File Geodatabases, CAD, PDFs (via structured inputs), CSV/tabular data
- Geometry validity checks
- Attribute completeness and consistency
- Duplicate and conflict detection
- Delivery Pods
- QA teams
- Automation and data pipeline teams
- Programme and Planning leads
- FME logic
- Data rules
- Exceptions and assumptions
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- 3+ years strong hands-on experience with Safe Software FME
- Proven track record of building complex, stable, and reusable FME Workbenches
- Deep understanding of:
- Spatial data structures and geometry types
- Coordinate reference systems and transformations
Technical Skills
- Advanced use of FME features:
- Custom Transformers
- Parameters and dynamic workflows
- Workspace optimisation and modular design
- Querying spatial databases (PostGIS / SQL Server – desirable)
- GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS)
- OS base mapping principles
