An Automotive instrumentation business is looking for a hands-on Calibration Engineer, ideally from an engine test or instrumentation test background to help develop and validate a new clean fuel engine measurement system. This is a practical, workshop-based role focused on instrumentation, experimental testing, and data analysis, working closely with a small engineering team.
The Role:
- Define and design test plans for a high precision engine measurement system
- Instrument test rigs (pressure sensors, fast-response thermocouples, DAQ)
- Execute manual testing and repeat historic tests
- Analyse data and report findings
- Recommend design and test improvements
- Potentially support transition from manual to automated testing
- Collaborate closely with other engineers
Skills required:
- Background in engine testing, instrumentation testing, or calibration
- Experience with instrumentation & data acquisition systems
- Strong understanding of pressure, temperature, flow, and high-speed events
- Confident working in a hands-on workshop role
- Strong maths and data analysis capability
- Experience with Python or MATLAB (highly desirable)
- LabVIEW experience (desirable)
Desirable:
- Experience with Clean Energy systems e.g. Gaseous or hydrogen
- Exposure to test automation or model development
- Familiarity with experimental method development
