Location: Melton (Hybrid).
Salary: £55,000.
The purpose of this role is to understand and solve complex business problems and challenges through the design and development of software applications, services and components; ensuring high performance, reliability, and security. This role will contribute directly towards exciting technology opportunities in the public health sector; specifically in general practice. This is a full-stack role and will be required to work on both our frontend and backend services. You will hold due consideration to the UX of our products.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement high-performance, scalable, and maintainable applications, services and systems.
- Develop APIs and other web services.
- Work with databases (relational and NoSQL) to design and implement data models.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design and development through to testing, deployment and monitoring & alerting.
Technical Leadership
- Identify and improve development processes and practices to improve quality and cycle time.
- Coach and guide other members of the team.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote and demonstrate software engineering best practices and principles.
- Participate in architectural and design discussions.
- Stay abreast of the latest technologies and industry trends.
- Assist with recruitment activities.
Problem-solving
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Identify and implement solutions designed to improve system security, performance, scalability, and reliability.
Collaboration
- Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
- Share ideas, prompting continuous improvement across the department.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Write unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Comply with the company's Health & Safety, Data Protection, Information Security, PCI & DSP policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of the product development lifecycle.
- Working experience with modern PHP including frameworks (e.g. Laravel).
- Working experience with modern frontend frameworks/libraries (e.g. React).
- Source control (e.g. GitLab).
- Working experience with structured and unstructured databases (e.g. MySQL).
- Experience with Message Queues (RabbitMQ) & event driven architecture.
- Strong knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented design principles.
- Working experience of unit test frameworks and test automation.
Desirable
- Strong expertise in Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum / Kanban).
- DevOps tooling.
- Node.js.
- Healthcare industry experience (NHS).
- VOIP call handling.
