The Opportunity
Shadow Robot is a leading robotics company in North London, looking for a commercially experienced Mechatronics Technician for a 6-month contract. This role is not for graduates as we need plenty of experience due to the nature of the project. You will be the hands-on support that enables senior engineers to focus on complex design challenges – assembling, testing, debugging, and documenting robotic systems as part of an important international project.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assembling and building prototype electro-mechanical robotic systems
- Setting up and running tests on components and systems
- Debugging electronics and capturing data accurately
- Maintaining workshop equipment and development space
- Writing clear documentation for tests and processes
- Supporting senior engineers so they can focus on design and innovation
What You’ll Bring
- Commercial experience as a Mechatronics Technician or Engineer
- Experience in testing and debugging electronics
- Competence in soldering, including small wires and electronic components
- Ability to assemble prototype electro-mechanical systems
- Strong documentation skills
- A structured approach to problem-solving and data recording
- Based in London and able to work in the office 5 days a week
Nice to have: PCB rework/surface mount experience, Linux command line, scripting/automation, MCAD/ECAD tools
