We are commercial property specialists operating across the UK. At Bruntwood, we are committed to offering more than just outstanding office, coworking, retail and lab spaces. Everything we do is tied into our vision of building vibrant communities, whilst providing businesses with the support and expertise they need to grow. This role supports our Unify by Bruntwood division that provides specialist cleaning solutions across commercial, retail and industrial property. Passionate about our customers and our people, we aim to lead the way in providing solutions that are exceptional, flexible and always built around our customers.
This is a great opportunity to join a growing business with a people first attitude, expanding from 370 to 550 customers in 2025, with growth plans to reach 700 by the end of 2026. There’s plenty of room to grow within the role, implementing your own ideas and taking ownership of a division whilst forming part of a multidisciplined People & Talent team who can support and share knowledge.
The People Advisor role is based in our head office in Manchester City Centre and sits within our wider people team of over twenty People and Talent professionals. You’ll work with over nine different key stakeholders – mainly Manchester based, however our customer base is present across Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham, and so there will be some expectation to travel (fully expensed) to attend meetings and manage key stakeholder relationships.
What we’re looking for:
- It’s important you are a people/HR professional from an operational background.
- A comprehensive knowledge of Employment Law with the ability to manage a high volume caseload of ER cases.
- The ability to work autonomously, taking ownership of cases and driving efficiencies/improvements with the support of the wider People and Unify teams.
- The ability to coach and advise, understanding the difference in approach based on stakeholder knowledge and upholding our culture and values.
- Ideally you’ll have TUPE knowledge, however if you are a People professional who shares our values and our approach when it comes to respect and compassion then this is something we can support with.
What you’ll be doing:
- As our People expert for Unify you’ll manage ER cases, advising managers on policy and process, with a natural coaching style that puts people at the heart of every decision.
- You will balance coaching and advisory approaches, supporting managers to build capability and resolve people matters independently.
- You’ll help to develop and deliver training workshops that will inform, inspire and upskill our people managers.
- You’ll support the colleague life cycle and key people practices from onboarding to offboarding to ensure the delivery of a seamless people experience and collaborate with the wider people & talent team to improve our approach.
- You’ll work with the wider People & Talent Team to deliver products that encourage our people to take ownership of their own performance, careers and learning, by providing them with a range of different options, resources and experiences.
- You’ll constantly review our policies and procedures, making sure they are fit for purpose.
- You’ll provide high quality data and reporting that will bring insight back to the team on people activity that is happening across the business.
- You will lead small-scale TUPE activity and work with People Partners on larger TUPE programmes, Organisational Change and Transformation initiatives.
- As a generalist, you’ll be comfortable to turn your hand to support our wider services including Recruitment, Payroll, Engagement, Wellbeing and Learning & Development.
- You’ll support the People Partners in implementing people plans - particularly around driving actions from the colleague engagement survey that really make a difference to life at Bruntwood.
Benefits:
- 28 days holiday plus you get your Birthday off work - and if that’s not enough you can also buy & sell holidays too.
- Company bonus - paid annually.
- 24 hours a year volunteer time - there are endless opportunities for you to get involved in supporting the causes that matter most to you.
- Sabbatical of up to 12 months so you can take a career break after five years with us.
- Healthcare cash plan for all colleagues, so you can claim back medical expenses like optical, dentist & physiotherapy. We also offer free private healthcare cover on an opt in basis too.
- Life assurance cover for all colleagues.
- Up to 8% matched pension scheme.
- Discounts & cashback at leading retailers.
- Enhanced maternity / shared parental leave - 26 weeks fully paid leave.
- Interest free loans to pursue your passions and apply for up to £2000 towards learning a new skill.
On our careers page you’ll find our benefits calculator, where you can select what benefits you’d use to calculate the savings you’d make. In addition to what to expect within the role and your benefits, it’s good to know that you’ll be working for a business that gives back - The Oglesby Charitable Trust has donated more than £30m since it started out in 2001, supporting charities across Arts and Culture, Education, Environment, Medical Research and Social & Health Inequality.
We’ll do our best to get back to you within a week of your application, however if it has been longer than this please feel free to email talent@bruntwood.co.uk for an update.
