The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
You will be an experienced hands-on PCB Design Engineer who has designed products for manufacture, accustomed to working to deadlines and able to communicate with customers in an eloquent and professional manner. You will be self-managing and highly motivated with a methodical, analytical approach and a willingness to work to existing design ethics and style.
Responsibilities
- Layout planning and progression
- Layout quotations & negotiation
- Layout team workload coordination and planning
- Customer contact & technical consultation
- Contract negotiation and management
- Liaison with CAD Vendors and IT Interaction
- Layout contractor management and overseeing
- Contractor resource identification and engagement
- Develop PCB designs supporting both new and maintaining current products
- Creating complete design packages, to include all PCB design data
- Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings & electronic circuit symbols
- Create single image and panelised designs reflecting in-house manufacturing rules
- Review and check design data to ensure production standards are maintained
- Working confidently and liaising with PCB and project design team members
- Provide efficient placement and routing analysis for design consideration
- Be able to work to deadlines and produce work of high quality
Qualifications
- Degree level qualified with an electronics engineering discipline or equivalent
- Proven experience of at least one of the following: Altium Designer, Cadence Orcad/Allegro, Siemens PADS
- Experience of designing with high-speed digital design, analogue or complex circuits, including fine pitch components (BGA) and high pin count devices
- Experience of working within an engineering design environment
- Ability to work to predefined timescales and deadlines
- Understanding electronic design documentation (schematic and layout definitions)
- Familiarity of PCB fabrication and assembly processes
- Understanding of Design for Manufacture / Test (DFM, DFT)
- PC literate and familiar with Microsoft Office
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience of Product Data Management (PDM) systems
- Experience of electronic circuits and components
- PCB routing for impedance control, power planes and signal integrity
- Experience of Signal Integrity Analysis
- Experience of Power Integrity Analysis
- Experience of Conductive Thermal Analysis
- Experience of EMC requirements for PCB design
- Knowledge of UL, FCC, and CE certification
- Knowledge and ability to work to IPC & ECSS standards
- Keeping up to date with design tools and methods
- Focussed and self-motivated
- The ability to understand, review, and develop processes to enhance and support PCB design role
