Thursday is a singles IRL events company that organises singles events, trips, dinners, activities, education and media. We are building technology to scale our operations and enhance the experience for our members.

We are seeking a UX/UI Designer with strong opinionated design skills paired with front-end development ability to shape how our products look, feel, and work. You will establish best practices for front-end design across the company and help implement them - building design systems, component libraries, and patterns that scale across our internal platform, customer-facing websites, mobile apps, and new products.
Experience Level: Mid-level (2+ years experience in design and development)
Location: Primarily remote, with regular in-office meetups and attendance at company events expected
Technical Skills:
- Design
- Strong UI/UX fundamentals (layout, typography, colour, spacing)
- Experience designing for web and mobile
- Proficiency in Figma (or similar)
- Portfolio showing end-to-end product design work
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript
- React (our stack is React + TypeScript + Tailwind)
- Comfortable turning designs into responsive, accessible interfaces
- Experience creating reusable component libraries
- Mobile development (React Native, iOS, Android) - nice to have
- Uses AI assistants (Claude, Cursor, etc.) effectively to accelerate work
- Keeps up with AI developments in design and applies them practically
- Can critically evaluate AI-generated output
- Views AI as a tool to augment creativity, not replace it
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and document front-end design best practices
- Build and maintain design systems and component libraries
- Create consistent, accessible interfaces that serve our diverse user base
- Own features from concept through to shipped code
- Focus on growing engagement with our tools (internal and external)
- Remove friction and improve user experience
- Gather feedback and iterate based on user needs
- Champion design consistency and quality across all products

- Work with different parts of the company (marketing, operations, partnerships) to gather requirements and feedback
- Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to understand their needs
- Turn feedback into actionable improvements
