Drumgrange is seeking an experienced and collaborative Electronics Test Engineer to join our inclusive team. This Electronics Test Engineer role is based in Portland on a 37.5 hr per week. As an experienced Electronics Technician, you will support our skilled engineering and manufacturing teams to supply high-quality products and systems to the Defence Industry. The successful candidate will be experienced in production inspection, testing and fault finding for electronic modules, units, systems and spares. The role is created to meet deadlines on a high-profile project which requires time management and strong communication.
What You’ll Do
- Perform IPC-level inspections of electronic assemblies before the test or as part of the production cycle
- Execute formal test documentation, including recording of results—hardware, software and firmware programme configuration
- Ensure all H&S requirements are met, and the assembly area is maintained as a safe, clean and tidy working environment
- Responsible for maintaining a high quality of work to deadlines provided by the business
- Responsible for recording details of defects found
- Responsible for adhering to the company’s policies and procedures
- Take measurements using common range test equipment
- Provide feedback for test documentation discrepancies
- Become familiar with the operating system and timely record all results and keep an up-to-date narrative
What you’ll need
- Previous experience working on Defence projects
- IPC level inspection certification
- BTEC Electronics qualification (ONC/HNC/HND) or equivalent
- Broad experience in using test equipment, including digital oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Function Generators, Multimeters and Power Supplies
- Ability to maintain several production test and reference facilities
- Experienced in problem-solving, fault finding and repair down to the component level for analogue and digital designs
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- SC Cleared
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience working to high standards against deadlines
- Previous experience dealing directly with engineering teams
Key Must Have skills
- Ability to obtain UK security clearance
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical test role
- Advanced technical experience in manual testing
- Proficient with use of hand tools and test equipment
- Ability to read and understand electronic and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of electronic components
- Ability to create detailed documents against specifications and drawings
- A basic understanding of electrical & electronics requirements
- Strong communication skills
- Good at multi-tasking
- Computer proficient with Office 365 and the ability to pick up software programmes quickly
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- An enthusiastic self-starter who wishes to learn, develop and progress
