Based in London Supply Trading & Shipping (ST&S) Ethics and Compliance (E&C) team, you will lead our Financial Regulated Entities (outside of the Americas) and coordinate ST&Sās relationships with financial regulators and assurance on our compliance with regulatory requirements.
This is a global role for a senior manager who can maintain oversight over regulatory frameworks and licensing requirements relevant to ST&S activities in the UK, EU, Australia and Singapore. It will require the ability to coordinate and influence across businesses and teams in multiple regions to implement an effective and consistent approach to the management of regulated entities and regulatory relationships.
Reporting directly to the Compliance Director for Gas & Power Trading International and UK Regulation, you will lead a small team across London and Singapore, coordinating the delivery of the following accountabilities:
- Responsibility for maintaining relationships with regulators (including the FCA and ASIC) for ST&S financial regulated entities in Europe and Australia.
- Managing communications with financial regulators, including to ensure compliance with FCA rules regarding disclosures (working with Regulatory Legal) and coordinating with the local country Compliance Officer on CNMV-related matters.
- Taking responsibility for the governance of ST&Sās regulated entities (outside of Americas), working alongside Company Secretariat, including preparing for and running Boards and Committee meetings.
- Ensuring the submission of timely and accurate regulatory returns for our regulated entities to regulators (including for example, close links reports, regulatory fees, required compliance reports etc.) and coordinating with others who hold responsibility for other regulatory reports (SMCR, regulatory capital returns, AML reports etc.) to oversee that overarching regulatory obligations are met.
- Overseeing and maintaining the framework of financial regulatory compliance documentation, including regional compliance manuals, policies, regulatory training and the UK regulatory risk assessment (RRA).
- Providing training on applicable regulatory requirements and understanding industry best practice and the application of this to ST&S regulated entities.
- Building strong working relationships with other E&C team members globally to ensure effective knowledge sharing and coordination in the financial regulatory space.
- Coordinating assurance reviews on compliance with key regulatory provisions, including reliance on third parties.
- Advising on the implementation of regulatory change within our regulated entities and providing E&C input as required on regulatory change implementation projects, working alongside other key functional and business stakeholders.
- Providing input to the Senior Compliance Manager, Regulatory Policy & Advocacy to develop advocacy positions on key regulatory issues.
- Developing strong relationships/partnerships with the business, including senior stakeholders and providing assurance on the management of key regulatory risks and licences to operate.
- Submitting UK Suspicious Transaction and Order Reports (STORs) to the FCA under MAR and keeping appropriate records of STORs and near misses.
About you
- A proven ability to manage people, teams and/or projects and to lead across regions at group leader level.
- Able to drive a consistent approach in our strategy and relationship management across external regulatory markets.
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of global financial regulations (for example the FCA, ASIC, EU CNMV, CFTC), exchange rules, and other relevant laws.
- Experience of managing regulatory relationships at a senior level.
- Strong interpersonal skills ā capable of effective influencing and the ability to adopt a variety of influencing styles to achieve the desired result.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills with ability to see the next step and follow through on operational detail.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work creatively to achieve identified goals.
