Quest Search & Selection are looking for a Quality Assurance and Compliance Lead- Food to provide strategic and operational leadership for their own-label portfolio, overseeing Food Safety and Quality Assurance. This role is to ensure legislative compliance and the ongoing review, enhancement, and application of policies and standards. This business is a leading B2B supplier & retailer; you will be part of a large international organisation with a highly influential marketing power with sustainable and progressive financial results.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage agreed budgets, including Quality Assurance and CSR costs.
- Contribute at senior leadership level to shape culture, standards, and strategy.
- Lead national QA and compliance frameworks, driving continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships across central, regional, international, and external partners.
- Develop, implement, and govern UK policies and compliance requirements.
- Oversee supplier approval, quality assurance, and responsible sourcing.
- Manage audits, corrective actions, product complaints, and supplier quality issues.
- Oversee finished goods specifications and ethical trading governance (including SEDEX).
- Represent the business externally on quality, food safety, legislation, and responsible retailing.
Qualifications
- Experience within the food and drink industry across multiple categories and supply chains, including chilled, ambient, frozen, and non-food.
- Ideally having a degree in Food Science or a related discipline, and/or relevant technical qualifications.
- HACCP Level 4 certification (desirable).
- 5 years plus+ Proven experience leading a Quality Assurance function, including team management.
- Experience in a leadership level within quality assurance, technical, food safety or compliance.
- Hands-on experience of food production processes and manufacturing methods.
- Strong capability operating at a senior level within a matrix organisation.
- Demonstrated experience applying food legislation across food safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Retail or own-label experience (desirable).
- Experience delivering packaging-related initiatives, including EPR and RAM (desirable).
