We are supporting a global engineering, technology, and project delivery organisation in the search for a Senior Project Controller to join their team based in Leatherhead. This role is well suited to a cost-focused Project Controls or Cost Engineering professional looking to take the next step in a structured, high-quality project environment. The position has a primary focus on cost control and cost management, with secondary exposure to scheduling and risk (training provided where required).
What You Will Do
- You will support project teams in maintaining strong financial discipline, accurate forecasting, and effective cost control, helping ensure projects are delivered on time within budget.
- Cost Management (Primary Focus)
- Supporting the development and maintenance of project cost control systems and coding structures
- Monitoring project budgets, commitments, actuals, and forecasts
- Preparing monthly cost reports, forecasts, and variance analysis for internal and external stakeholders
- Tracking cost trends and commercial changes, and supporting corrective actions
- Supporting the collection and validation of schedule data from project teams
- Assisting with schedule updates and progress tracking (Primavera P6 / MS Project)
- Identifying schedule deviations and contributing to recovery planning
What I Need From You
- Proven experience in Project Controls, Cost Engineering, or a similar discipline
- Strong understanding of cost control principles and financial reporting
- Confident working with Excel and cost management systems
- Exposure to scheduling and risk management is beneficial, but not essential
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Clear communicator, comfortable working in collaborative project teams
- Good understanding of financial principles, including revenue and cost recognition
- Experience across the full project lifecycle in a delivery environment
Technical Skills
- Experience with cost systems such as Deltek Cobra, Costpoint, SAP, or similar
- Exposure to Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, STEM, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Professional certifications (e.g. AACE, PMI-SP, PMP, APM) are desirable but not essential
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 5-year UK to support SC clearance eligibility
