A highly skilled Principal Electronics Engineer job opportunity with a global leader in embedded computing, based in Northamptonshire. The role involves technical and project leadership within the R&D department, contributing to high-growth, cutting-edge projects. The Principal Electronics Engineer will lead a cross-functional team of engineers working on the development of high-performance graphic cards, sensor processing products and network switches. The successful applicant should embrace a culture of outstanding teamwork and be able to work under own direction. The role requires extensive hardware development experience, strong influencing and communication skills, self-motivation and good organisation.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and project leadership and lead a cross-functional engineering team in the development of high-performance graphic cards, sensor processing products and network switches.
- Foster a culture of teamwork and operate with a degree of autonomous direction.
- Deliver hardware development expertise and effectively communicate across teams.
Qualifications
- A degree in Electronic Engineering or similar subject with provable practical design experience, ideally in an aerospace or defence environment.
- Working knowledge of serial interfaces (RS485, RS422, MLVDS).
- Mixed-signal knowledge including ADC/DAC, FPGA, and SoC-based design for high-performance signal processing, communications and control.
Ideal candidate areas of design and development
- Designing high-speed digital circuits that utilise the latest FPGA, microprocessor and high-speed interconnect technologies.
- Schematic capture using Altium.
- Integrating in-house designs with COTS modules (power supplies, single board computers, RF interfaces).
