Join our Pen Claims team as a Marine Claims Handler. The primary location is London and we are open to receiving applications from other locations in the UK including Birmingham, Manchester, Ipswich, Leeds, Bristol, etc. This is a hybrid working model role.
You will manage a portfolio of marine claims, primarily Marine Hull, but also Marine Liability & Cargo from notification to settlement. You will work closely with clients, brokers, and underwriters, providing excellent service and technical expertise. This role offers the chance to make a real impact in a collaborative and supportive environment by contributing to the development and improvement of the marine claims function and processes.
How You'll Make An Impact- To investigate, negotiate, and resolve marine claims in accordance with policy terms and conditions, best practices, and service standards.
- To maintain accurate and timely records of claims data, correspondence, and financial transactions in the claims system.
- To communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, such as clients, brokers, underwriters, surveyors, lawyers, and regulators.
- To monitor and manage claims reserves, payments, and recoveries, ensuring compliance with internal and external guidelines and regulations.
- To identify and report on trends, issues, and opportunities related to marine claims, and propose solutions and recommendations.
- To participate in claims audits, reviews, and training, and provide feedback and support to colleagues and managers.
- To keep abreast of market developments, legal updates, and industry best practices in marine claims.
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the Marine Claims Manager or senior management.
- Experience in handling marine claims, preferably with an insurance company, Lloyds Syndicate or a Lloyds broker.
- A relevant professional qualification, such as CII, ACII, or AMIM, or working towards one.
- A sound knowledge of marine insurance products, policies, and markets.
- A strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse stakeholders.
- A self-motivated and proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to cope with changing priorities and deadlines.
- A proficiency in using MS Office applications and claims systems.
