Our client is a global solar power leader, with a strong footprint in the African energy market. They have a number of projects currently in construction, 3GW in development stage and another 3GW in the O&M phase.
Supporting the Engineering and Technical team in London, the Senior Civil Engineer will bring technical expertise to the design for PV plants including site layouts, foundations, access roads, drainage, earthworks and structural supports.
A solid background in reviewing and approving geotechnical, hydrological and topographical studies, coupled with a keen eye to optimise site layouts to balance cut-and-fill, minimise costs and mitigate environmental impacts, this role will be instrumental in both the development and construction lifecycles of large, utility scale, ground mount solar projects.
The team is small, providing unsurpassed exposure to numerous aspects of developing, constructing and operating solar plants across the globe.
Qualifications- Chartered Civil / Structural Engineering status
- 5-7 years of experience in civil design and execution of large infrastructure projects (solar utility-scale ground mount projects would be highly advantageous)
- Relevant design and modelling software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, drainage design tools)
- Knowledge of international standards and good practice in earthworks, drainage, erosion control, and stormwater management (SANS 1200, BS EN 1990, BS 6031)
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally
- Strong English (both written and spoken); spoken French is advantageous
