We are seeking a Technical Project Assistant / Junior Technical BA to support the delivery of a large and complex data centre exit and infrastructure migration programme, involving the move out of two existing data centres. This role is ideal for someone with 1β3 years' experience in a technical IT environment who is looking to transition into Business Analysis/Project Management. You will work closely with Project Managers, Solution Designers, and Service Owners to coordinate activities, track progress, and support technical migration planning across multiple workstreams. The Client expectation is two days per week on site, the remainder remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Programme Support
- Provide day-to-day support to Project Managers delivering a large infrastructure migration programme
- Assist with coordination activities across multiple migration workstreams
- Track actions, dependencies, risks, and issues related to migration activities
- Jira & Confluence Management
- Manage and update Jira tickets related to migration tasks and activities
- Maintain and update Confluence migration pages, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date
- Support reporting on progress, blockers, and upcoming activities using Jira and Confluence data
- Migration Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate meetings and workshops with service owners and technical teams to:
- Establish migration approaches
- Understand as-is architecture and dependencies
- Agree migration plans and timelines
- Assist Project Managers in preparing migration schedules and activity plans
- Technical Analysis & Data Handling
- Support Solution Designers with asβis analysis of existing environments
- Provide analysis on lists of servers to be migrated, including validation of server details and ownership
- Update the programme tracking tool with server status, milestones, and readiness indicators
- Governance & Change Control
- Track and chase change approvals required for migration activities
- Ensure change records are raised, updated, and approved in line with governance and change control processes
- Support adherence to programme controls, delivery standards, and reporting requirements
Essential
- 1β3 years' experience in a technical IT role or IT-focused department (e.g. Infrastructure support, systems administration, IT operations, application support)
- Strong understanding of IT environments, particularly servers, infrastructure, and enterprise systems
- Strong business analysis and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical data and translate it into clear insights
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills, including data manipulation, filtering, pivot tables, and reporting
- Experience analysing and maintaining large data sets, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Strong experience using Jira, including:
- Managing and updating Jira tickets
- Tracking progress and dependencies
- Reporting on Jira activities, status, and trends
- Experience maintaining documentation in Confluence (or similar collaboration tools)
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident written and verbal communication skills, particularly with technical stakeholders
Desirable
- Exposure to data centre, infrastructure, or cloud migration projects
- Familiarity with ITIL-based change management or formal change control processes
- Experience working alongside Solution Designers or Architects
- Entry-level project management qualification or working towards one (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation, AgilePM, CAPM)
