Remit: Compass Associates are working with a well-established care organisation that is opening a brand-new elderly care service in Cornwall, due to open in July. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a commissioning project from the ground up, with the support of an experienced senior leadership team.
This role is for an experienced Commissioning General Manager to take full responsibility for the setup, launch and day-to-day leadership of the service. You will play a key role in preparing the home for opening, including recruitment, systems implementation, regulatory readiness and culture-building, before transitioning into full operational management post-opening.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in embedding high standards of care, ensuring compliance from day one, and creating a positive, resident-focused environment that supports long-term stability and success.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be an established care leader with proven experience commissioning or opening new elderly care services. You will be confident managing pre-opening timelines, recruiting and training teams, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth and compliant launch.
You will be a visible, hands-on leader who can balance strategic planning with operational delivery. This role would particularly suit someone who thrives in commissioning environments and takes pride in setting strong foundations, systems and culture from the outset.
Requirements β Essential:
- Proven experience commissioning or opening an elderly care home
- Previous experience as a Home Manager or General Manager within elderly care
- Strong working knowledge of CQC regulations, registration and compliance
- Experience recruiting, onboarding and developing teams for a new service
- Ability to manage budgets, resources and pre-opening costs
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Flexible and resilient approach during the commissioning phase
Requirements β Desirable:
- Experience working closely with regulatory bodies during registration
- Knowledge of Person Centred Software (PCS)
