Hours of Work: Core business hours are 09:00–17:30, Monday to Friday. Working outside core hours may be required, including weekends and evenings for events. If you work outside core hours, lieu time will be given in accordance with the Staff Handbook.
Location: Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week at the Head Office in Epsom and 2 days from home. The Head Office is a five-minute walk from Epsom train station and has parking. The Fundraising Officer will attend bi-monthly team meetings and 1:1s in Epsom or London. Accessibility to this location will be considered in the appointment.
About Look Good Feel Better: Look Good Feel Better is a national cancer support charity delivering services in hospitals, cancer care centres and luxury spas and hotels across the UK. Services include face-to-face and online group sessions, video tutorials, online guides and information. Since 1994, we have provided support to over 200,000 people.
Outline of the Role: The charity is embarking on a significant growth plan to double the number of beneficiaries supported, volunteers registered, and income raised within the next two to three years. This role will assist with ambitious income growth through investment in the fundraising and communications team. We are looking for a motivated, confident individual with strong organisational skills who is passionate about supporting people living with cancer. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple fundraising disciplines within our small, friendly fundraising and communications team. You will work alongside the Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Comms, focusing on building income from individual giving and the challenge events programme. The successful applicant should have a broad understanding of income generation methods and the third sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent stewardship to existing and new individual supporters, including individual donors, fundraisers, regular givers, shop customers and lottery players, challenge & non-challenge event participants, and community fundraisers. Build strong relationships to keep supporters engaged with the charity.
- Map, create and update supporter journeys across all individual giving and event fundraising streams, writing impactful and engaging communications.
- Work with the Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Comms to interpret donor data to inform decisions and maximise supporter engagement and retention.
- Take ownership of the charity’s fundraising platforms (Enthuse, JustGiving, social media fundraising). Provide support and advice to fundraisers and other team members; stay current with new online fundraising platforms.
- Support the Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Comms with the delivery of key fundraising campaigns and events; ensure supporter recruitment and fundraising targets are achieved.
- Collaborate with the wider team and design executive to produce engaging promotional and fundraising materials within agreed expenditure budgets.
- Assist with recruitment of fundraisers for challenge events and manage the challenge event stewardship journey to meet income targets.
- Play a crucial role in the management and delivery of the charity’s annual Netball Tournament with England Netball, ensuring income targets are met.
Other Roles within the Department
- Help generate impactful content and storytelling celebrating our individual and event fundraisers.
- Collaborate with fundraising team and wider charity to develop new and innovative campaigns and events.
- Oversee day-to-day activities of the Fundraising Administrator, ensuring accurate inputting of donor contact data, funds, Gift Aid and correspondence.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 2–3 years fundraising experience across several disciplines; ability to demonstrate achievement of annual income targets.
- Experience in developing Individual Giving Programmes.
- Experience in development and management of supporter journeys.
- Knowledge and experience using a CRM system (Salesforce or similar).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- A clean full driving licence and car ownership.
