We are looking for a skilled Motion Control / Mechatronics Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to understand application requirements and deliver tailored motion control solutions. The position combines hands‑on engineering, customer‑facing technical support, and consultancy, with ongoing opportunities to develop expertise in the latest motion control technologies. This is a full‑time, home, or local office‑based role, covering the Northwest, East of England, and Scotland, with occasional travel to the North Midlands. Area North UK, M62 Corridor ideally.
What We Are Looking For
- A qualification at NVQ, HNC, HND or Degree level in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline (a Master’s degree is advantageous).
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in the design, programming, and implementation of motion control systems, ideally using Siemens technology or equivalent platforms.
- Strong in depth knowledge of motion control system design for high precision applications.
- Solid understanding of servo and stepper motor control principles, drive technology, and motor sizing.
- Experience configuring and commissioning Siemens SIMATIC and SINAMICS platforms.
- Familiarity with integrating motion control systems with PLCs and HMIs to provide full control and monitoring functionality.
- Ability to support customers in using Siemens motion control technology within TIA Portal.
- Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex motion control issues efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to provide first line technical support both remotely and on site as required.
- A proactive approach to learning, with an interest in keeping up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practice.
