About the Opportunity
NRL is recruiting for a Project Manager to support a major client. Working on one of the UK’s flagship new developments, you’ll build core knowledge and capability within the New industry. Joining a newly established Business Unit, this role offers the opportunity to contribute during a period of innovation and change, with scope for your input and impact to be recognised. The Civil Works Programme consists of multiple projects delivered over a 10-year period, with delivery responsibility shared across a number of accountable participants.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing programme-level oversight across your allocated scope, ensuring engineering, design, and procurement activities are effectively coordinated and delivered in line with project requirements.
- Maintaining a global overview of nuclear plant Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs) within your programme.
- Ensuring the timely delivery of engineering studies by the Responsible Designer or key contractors in line with regulatory requirements.
- Supporting the development of post-FID contract packages, including terms and conditions, contractual appendices, and technical specifications.
- Driving the incorporation of site-specific design changes into programme design deliverables.
- Managing internal and external interfaces across contracts, systems, and programme scopes.
- Engaging early with stakeholders and suppliers to identify obsolescence risks and wider risks to replication.
- Managing the technical aspects of procurement activities for assigned contracts.
- Embedding lessons learned and knowledge capture as standard practice.
What You’ll Need
- Degree and Chartered status in Project Management, Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, with experience managing construction activities.
- Proven experience delivering major projects from concept through to handover within complex environments.
- Demonstrated success coordinating multi-disciplinary design and procurement teams.
- Engineering background (mechanical, electrical, process, systems, or civil) within large industrial plant environments.
- Experience managing complex contracts, including cost, risk, schedule, and change control using Earned Value techniques.
- Experience supporting the close-out of commercial claims and associated negotiations.
