Omnia Projects, part of the Egis Group, are a UK-based engineering consultancy specialising in electricity Transmission and Distribution (T&D) providing engineering, project management and technical assurance.
The successful individual will support and work with the in-house project delivery team to provide works across several asset classes to include substations, underground cables, overhead lines and civils. This will cover at all system voltages from low voltage (LV) up to and including 132kV.
The Junior Site Supervisor supports project-based works and portfolios of projects, ensuring high standards of construction, safety, and quality are maintained across all distribution asset classes (overhead lines, underground cables, substations, civil works, and work programmes). The role involves assisting with site management, construction supervision, and project delivery.
Responsibilities:- Support project teams with project time, cost, quality, and safety accountabilities in the development and delivery of project works.
- Assist in overseeing, managing, and coordinating the on-site delivery of projects during construction and post-construction activities.
- Maintain effective project team communication on progress and plan updates during project delivery.
- Provide construction management and Health and Safety expertise to support the delivery of construction works.
- On a case-by-case basis, undertake Contractor responsibilities under the CDM Regulations.
- Where required, act as the Company Principal Contract Representative under CDM Regulations where the Company is nominated Principal Contractor.
- Monitor contractor Health and Safety and Environmental performance through audits of contractor working methods, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
- Carry out formal documented inspections of contractor work and provide corrective instruction if necessary (typically 1 safety and 1 quality inspection per month).
- Work with the Company’s appointed contractors to ensure all work is delivered in accordance with the project programme and in a safe, environmentally responsible manner.
- Guide contractors when required and raise any issues to the Company Project Delivery Engineer / project team as necessary.
Predominantly based on work sites across several sites and projects, with some office-based work as necessary.
Knowledge & Qualifications:- Minimum City and Guilds / BTEC qualification in Electrical / Power disciplines.
- Civil, mechanical, or electrical National Craft Certificate and the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
- Experience of site managing construction sites for works on the electrical distribution system on systems low voltage up to and including 33kV on either overhead, underground, protection, substations and plant or civil matters, typically 2+ years’ experience practicing as a Site Supervisor.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the UK electricity distribution and transmission construction and commissioning techniques, and associated plant and equipment.
- Ability to deliver high quality work in a demanding environment while ensuring 100% adherence to Company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Adaptable, self-motivated, and flexible.
- Computer literate and aptitude to learn the Company specific suite of IT software (e.g., cable records package).
- Either possess or be capable to successfully obtain, and maintain, the Company Operational Authorisation requirement, at minimum: Authorisations to gain access to all operational substations unsupervised. Authorisations to supervise others who need to gain access to all operational substations.
- Provide a high level of professionalism, able to work under pressure and to tight timescales.
Services are delivered across operational and non-operational sites within its geographical licence area. Principal office locations include Castleford, Hull, Hellaby, York, Stockton, Penshaw, and Shiremoor. Expenses for travel and accommodation incurred for company needs will be paid separately, subject to company allowances and contract terms. The allocation and mix of project work may vary and will be determined by company priorities. All work should be performed in strict accordance with company processes, procedures, and industry best practice.
