Part-time or Full-time | Single or Dual-Site RoleWe are recruiting a Consultant Psychologist to join established multidisciplinary teams across two Level 2 rehabilitation hospitals in the Leeds / West Yorkshire area.
The role can be structured as:
Part-time at one site (approx. 22.5 hours), or
Full-time across two sites (37.5 hours), with time split between locations
Both services provide high-dependency recovery and rehabilitation for adult male patients with complex mental health needs, including severe and enduring mental illness, neuropsychiatry, physical health comorbidities, and community-focused rehabilitation pathways.
The Services
Site 1: A 19-bed high-dependency rehabilitation and recovery service
Site 2: A dual-ward rehabilitation service supporting individuals with increasing physical and mental health needs
Both services are recovery-focused and aim to support individuals to build confidence, independence, and skills to progress toward community living.
The RoleYou will play a senior clinical and strategic role within the services, contributing directly to patient care, team development, and service improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for patients with complex needs
Developing and delivering behavioural and psychologically informed interventions
Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to care planning and risk management
Providing clinical supervision, support, and guidance to psychologists, assistants, and trainees
Contributing to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Supporting staff teams with psychologically informed approaches to care
Operating at a strategic level within the service while maintaining strong clinical involvement

Essential criteria:
Qualified Consultant Psychologist
Strong working knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, plus at least two additional therapeutic modalities
Training in an intervention suitable for working with complex and/or location-specific disorders
Significant experience working with complex users in rehabilitation or similar settings
Experience delivering highly specialist psychological interventions
Training and experience in clinical supervision
Strong leadership, service development, and strategic working experience
Willingness to undertake further training where required
