Overview: Worcestershire (Hybrid Working Model). An Oil & Gas equipment manufacturer based in the Worcestershire area is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer on a permanent basis. PRS Engineering has engaged with a new client in the Oil & Gas sector.

Summary of Job

  • Position: Technical Sales Engineer
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Worcestershire (Hybrid Working Model)
  • Salary: up to £42.5K plus Performance bonus (paid twice yearly in June & December payslip)
  • Plus Flexitime (employees can choose their working pattern)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Shall be fully committed to the achievement of company policies and objectives with special respect to quality and safety.
  • To win orders and maximise profit for equipment, especially for non-standard, bespoke projects.
  • To ensure quotations are competitive, well presented both technically and commercially and accurate to customer requirements.
  • To highlight deviations from enquiry specifications for efficient Contract Review and Order Processing.
  • To highlight benefits, advantages and ongoing savings when clients purchase equipment.
  • To carry out preliminary mechanical design of equipment, including initial design calculations to determine vessel thicknesses and construction details for cost-effective quotations.
  • To ensure customer satisfaction with respect to design and achievable delivery schedules.
  • To ensure quotations are prepared timely and keep the client informed of delays or developments.
  • Responsible for calculating accurate costings and realistic delivery lead times to maximise competitiveness and profitability.
  • To request extensions to bid deadlines when required.
  • To organise, schedule and prioritise the submission of bids in the absence of the Sales Manager.
  • To attend bid clarifications and reply with commercially and technically satisfactory responses.
  • To produce enquiries and provide quotations for factored products within the range.
  • To continuously develop product and applications knowledge by attending training and liaising with Engineering and sub-vendors.
  • To develop knowledge of customers’ businesses, contracts, markets, and projects.
  • To build and maintain good working relationships with customers and agents.
  • To carry out contract reviews in accordance with in-house procedures and hand over contracts to Engineering and Production.
  • To maintain enquiry files in accordance with in-house procedures.
  • To undertake additional duties as necessary to ensure smooth sales operations and ongoing improvements.
  • To undertake reasonable instructions from senior personnel as appropriate.

Qualifications/Experience

  • GCSE minimum grade 4/5 (or equivalent Grade C) in English and Maths.
  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous technical experience in sales/customer service preferred.

Office hours enable flexi-time working, covering a 37-hour week. Flexible start and finish times are available with core hours which must be covered each day. Monday to Thursday covers an 8-hour shift and Friday covers a 5-hour shift.
