We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team within the HV, Energy and Renewable sector. The role will be based on a major project in Scotland. The organisation operates across multiple European countries and delivers next-generation solutions by designing, building, and installing Data Centres, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device facilities, and Renewable Energy systems.
The Role
The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for the management, coordination, and support of all civil and electrical elements from tender stage through to project delivery and completion. The role places strong emphasis on safety, civil design, and quality assurance to support electrical requirements. You will work closely with the project delivery team, engage with client representatives and processes, and coordinate with civil subcontractors from mobilisation through to handover. In conjunction with the Quantity Surveying team, you will also support the commercial management of civil subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documentation and electrical requirements to prepare energy and utilities tender packages for subcontractors
- Technically review tender submissions to support subcontractor selection
- Liaise with electrical and civil designers to ensure designs meet project requirements
- Manage client interfaces and approval processes relating to civil design and works
- Review and quality check designs prior to issue to the client
- Coordinate input into client and utility design review processes
- Prepare subcontract packages in collaboration with the Project Manager and QS
- Project manage civil subcontractors alongside the Project Manager
- Ensure correct civil installation and successful handover to electrical construction teams and the end client
- Capture and communicate variations to the Quantity Surveyor in a timely manner
- Coordinate with subcontractors on variations and associated design changes
- Ensure compliance with client management systems and contract documentation
- Manage civil sub-consultants and contractors
- Deliver projects safely, to quality standards, and on programme
- Manage, assess, and develop project teams and individuals
Candidate Requirements
- Third level degree in Civil, Energy, or Renewable Engineering
- Minimum 5 yearsβ experience as a Civil Engineer with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in setting out, design coordination, and AutoCAD
- Ability to prioritise workloads and maintain high attention to detail
- Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- Team-oriented mindset within high-performing environments
- Willingness to travel
